V rámci plzeňských Slavností svobody byl do hodnosti Staff Sergeant povýšen stávající sergeant Ondřej Černý. Ten zastává v jednotce pozici Command Sergeant Major, v Klubu Vojenské Historie Joint Task Force Raiders, o.s. je místopředsedou.
„Staff Sergeant Černý je hlavním motorem projektu Slavnosti svobody a vůbec jedním z tahounů jednotky. I když je trošku kontroverzní osobností, výrazně to vyvažuje svým nasazením a zápalem pro věc. Jsem si jist, že si povýšení zaslouží. I kdyby jen proto, že se povýšení dočkal po velmi dlouhé době,“ komentuje velitel jednotky MAJ Syka.
Samotný novopečený Staff Sergeant k tomu dodává: „Necítím, že bych si toto povýšení zasloužil. Proto si ho vážím o to více, a to zejména proto, že za ním stojí nejen naše velení, ale zejména náš přítel John Batty Sylvan, prezident Second Indianhead Division Association - Membership/Public Relations Office. Je to pro mne velká čest a bylo to pro mne veliké překvapení.“ Povýšení předala Kathleen Lemmons Hoffman, která Johna Sylvana musela, kvůli jeho zdravotní indispozici zastoupit. Sama je představitelkou 16th Armored Division Association.
Zbývá dodat, že Staff Sergeant Černý si teoreticky svoji novou hodnost mohl už půl roku užívat. Prezident Asociace 2. Pěší Divize John Batty Sylvan mu totiž novou hodnost podepsal již 26. října 2017, a to přímo v místě vzniku Druhé pěší divize – francouzském Bourmontu.
Within the framework of the Freedom Festival, the current Sergeant Ondřej Černý was promoted to the Staff Sergeant. He holds the position of the Command Sergeant Major in the unit and in the Military History Club Joint Task Force Raiders, o.s. he is the vice president.
"Staff Sergeant Cerny is the main engine of the Freedom Festival project, and one of the unit`s drives. Even if he is a bit of a controversial figure, he balances it greatly with his engagement and fervor for the thing. I`m sure he deserves promotion. Even if it`s just because the promotion has been going on for a very long time, "commented the unit commander MAJ Syka.
The very new Staff Sergeant added: "I do not feel like I deserve this promotion. That`s why I appreciate it more, especially because behind it lays not only our commanders, but especially our friend John Batty Sylvan, the president of the Second Infantry Division Association. It is a great honor for me, and it was a great surprise for me." The promotion was given under hands of Kathleen Lemmons Hoffman from 16th Armored Division Association, becouse Joh Baty Sylvan was not well at that time.
It should be added that Staff Sergeant Cerny could have enjoyed his new rank theoretically for half a year. The President of the 2nd Infantry Division Association, John Batty Sylvan, has already signed the new rank on October 26, 2017, right at the site of the Second Infantry Division birthplace - Bourmont, France.
